Polytunnel ventilation

Ventilation is most important in a Polytunnel to help maintain the climate for crops and air cirulation to reduce diseases. For many gardeners and allotmenteers, using the polytunnel doors at either end for ventilation will often be enough.

Longer polytunnels 40ft and over will benefit greatly from side ventilation

With side ventilation you have a 1m to 1.5m wide net around the lower edge of the polytunnel which is attached to a timber rail roughly 0.8m to 1m above ground level. The net can either be buried in the ground or fitted to a base rail.

If you wanted to close the side ventilation sreen this can be achived by fitting a polythene blind.

You will need to, either concrete in the foundation tubes, or fit Anchors Plates if fitting side ventilation.
